According to the official statistics, a total of 405 cricketers competed in the IPL Mini Auction 2023 for 87 seats as there was a rain of money on the cricketers joining from the country and overseas. There can be a maximum of 30 foreign cricket players present, under the IPL Mini Auction 2023.
In the players’ auction on Friday, England all-rounder Sam Curran set a new record for the IPL by being the most expensive player ever purchased. The IPL is the richest cricket league in the world.
After a heated bidding war including the Chennai Super Kings, Curran returned to the Punjab Kings for the amazing price of 18.5 crore Indian rupees ($2.23 million). The second-highest earning was the Australian all-rounder Cameroon Green, who received a 17.5 crore bid from the Mumbai Indians. Ben Stokes, the captain of England’s Test team, was the third-highest gainer, selling for 16.25 crore to CSK, which beat Kolkata Knight Riders in yet another tough bidding war.
10 franchises spent a combined total of $1,670,00,000. 80 players total sold (Overseas 29) Sam Curran (England, Punjab Kings) was the most expensive purchase at 18.5 crores; Mayank Agarwal (Sunrisers Hyderabad), at 8.25 crore; and Shivam Mavi (Gujarat Titans), at 6 crores, was the most expensive uncapped Indian purchase.

After the auction in Kochi, RCB, who had Rs 8.75 crore in their bank account, only has Rs 1.75 crore. Will Jacks of England was the most expensive purchase made by RCB at the auction, costing them Rs. 3.2 crore. Reece Topley, an Englishman who is a fellow countryman of Jack’s, was the only other player on whom RCB today spent more than Rs 1 crore, with the pacer receiving Rs 1.9 crore. To complete their lineup, RCB purchased five uncapped Indian players at the auction.
